Merida

Merida is a bustling city of over 1 million people. The very large, old city center, is lined with busy shoppers and restaurant goers, at all times of the day and night, just not during the siesta hours when shops are closed, and the bustling throngs escape the heat of the afternoon sun. Merida has often been considered the safest city in Mexico, and one of the safest cities in all Latin America. The majestic Cathedral of Merida is the oldest cathedral in mainland Americas. Rich in the history of two cultures, this blend can be felt everywhere. We spent 3 days in this wonderful city, amazing by day, and maybe even more so by night!

Valladolid

Embark on an unforgettable journey through the rich cultural tapestry of Mexico as you explore the enchanting wonders of Ek Balam and Valladolid. Immerse yourself in the ancient Mayan ruins of Ek Balam, where towering pyramids and intricate carvings tell stories of a bygone era. In Valladolid, we wandered through the charming colonial streets, admiring vibrant facades, savoring delicious local cuisine, and discovering hidden cenotes. We were so captivated by this gem of the Yucatan, combining  Mexico’s captivating past and vibrant present, that we seriously considered moving here.

Izamal

We visited the “Yellow City” of Izamal, an amazing, magical town adorned with sun-kissed colonial buildings and a towering Franciscan monastery, offering a glimpse into Mexico’s colonial past.  The outdoor area of this yellow monastery, is said to be the second largest in the world, next to the one at the Vatican.  A must visit when in Yucatan, is the awe-inspiring Chichen Itza, an ancient Mayan city where the iconic El Castillo pyramid stands tall, and the sacred cenote of Sacrifice unveils the mysticism of the Mayan civilization, leaving you in awe of its architectural brilliance and historical significance.
